  2. Infinity Ward’s Senior CM Ashton Williams has announced that a new patch update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on January 22.

    The new update will be available on all platforms.

    In the tweet, Williams says the new update will include:

    • New Crossbow weapon – earned through in-game challenges. Arriving on January 22, this super-sleek one-hit kill weapon is available to earn and add to your Modern Warfare arsenal. Visit the Marksman Rifles tab in the Loadout menu to find the Crossbow. You’ll have to complete a marksman rifle related to challenge in order to earn this bad bolt of a weapon
    • 5 Additional Loadout Slots
    • Fix for player collision issue

    And more to come. Per a now deleted Activision Blog post, the update will also see Aniyah Palace return to Ground War.

    The full patch notes for the update will be posted when the patch goes live on January 22, so stay tuned.



  3. UPDATE – January 21: Infinity Ward has updated the Trello board for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it now notes that the fix for Player Slide Cancel bug requires “more testing” and that the “release date is TBD.”

    The next patch update for Modern Warfare is set for January 22, and many thought the slide cancel issue will be fixed with this update as the original note on the Trello board said Fixed in a Future Release. Now, this will not be fixed this week.

    Infinity Ward has launched a new Trello board today detailing just some of what they’re aware of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    The board features a small look at the bugs and issues the studio is looking into and aware of as 2020 continues to progress. The studio has also labeled that the fix slide cancel bug, which has been a hot topic in the esports community, will be fixed in the next update.

    The Trello Board gives a look at MP issues, Special Ops issues, PC issues, and more the studio is tracking and working to resolve.

    Infinity Ward released their first ever Community Update on their site showcasing a preview of what’s coming to Modern Warfare soon.

  4. UPDATE – Jan 21 at 3PM ET: The Blog Post has now been posted back up on the Activision Blog post. There were no edits made, and it still says Team Gear is coming January 24.

    UPDATE – Jan 20 at 7:00PM ET: Activision Blog has since deleted the “This Week in Call of Duty” blog post that detailed the launch of CDL team camos. The company also had an article up detailing some of the CDL teams that had references and images, shown below, of the CDL team camos. That reference and images have been since removed.

    Activision Blizzard has announced that Call of Duty League team customization gear is coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as the company celebrates the launch of the brand new Call of Duty esports league.

    All 12 Call of Duty League teams will have their own gear sets in-game in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for players.

    The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Store on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will see Call of Duty League Gear starting January 24, including Home and Away skins for Operators, Weapon Camos, calling cards, and more.

    Players can visit the Store this week to get official Call of Duty League gear for your Operators in game. The team packs include home and away skins for your Operators, weapon camos that can be equipped to any weapon, calling cards, and more. Celebrate your favorite team by heading to the Franchise Store tab in the Modern Warfare Store and scroll down to pick up the Call of Duty League team bundle of your choice, scheduled to launch on January 24.

    Activision Blog has shared a look at what’s coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this week. (Update: the Activision blog post has since been removed.)

    Infinity Ward confirmed in their community update on January 17 that a new patch update is expected for the game at some point this week, with patch notes for the update to come when the update goes live.

    This week will see the addition of the Cross Bow to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    Meet your new friend, the Crossbow. Arriving on January 22, this super-sleek one-hit kill weapon is available to earn and add to your Modern Warfare arsenal. Visit the Marksman Rifles tab in the Loadout menu to find the Crossbow. You’ll have to complete a marksman rifle related to challenge in order to earn this bad bolt of a weapon.     Infinity Ward is activating a Double XP weekend in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare!

    Live now through Tuesday, January 21 at 10AMT, both Double XP and Double Weapon XP are live in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    Rank up your level and your weapons this weekend as Infinity Ward activates Double XP and Double Weapon XP on January 17 at 10 AM PT until January 21 at 10 AM PT. Enjoy the long weekend and see if you can finish off all the challenges, missions, and ribbons available in Season One. 

    The Double XP event is live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC to coincide with the holiday weekend in the US.

    As part of Infinity Ward’s push to provide some more communication on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the studio has posted their latest community update highlighting what’s happening with the game.

    The new community update highlights new playlists that are coming soon, some of the new things that are on the way, as well as bug fixes the studio is tracking.

    Here’s the community update:

    It’s been an exciting week, with Shoot House 24/7 making its return, the new “Same Day Delivery” playlist, and some new Gunfight 3v3 action, so let’s get ready for the weekend and take a look at what’s coming in Modern Warfare.

    We’re extending Season One, which will now end on February 11th. We’ve got new challenges, items, more game modes, new playlists…and of course, a pretty sweet Crossbow that you can earn by completing a challenge in-game, all coming over the next few weeks. We’ll also be flipping the switch on 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression events to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, just in time for Season Two!

    Speaking of XP events, live now until Monday, January 20th, hop online and earn all the XP with 2XP and 2X Weapon XP!

    ClanHBS was founded on this 27th day of January, 2005. 15 years have now gone by in combined efforts between HBS Staff and Soldiers to ensure that growth and sustainability have no end in sight.

    HBS would like to extend an invite to any and all peoples; members, staff, families and guests alike, to take part in a Weekend-Long Celebratory Event to Commemorate those who have shed blood, sweat, and tears into this great community. From Thursday 23 January through Monday 27 Jan, HBS will be Rockin' the Channels with Music, Games, Giveaways and Good Times. We extend the offer to use any and all HBS assets/servers for all of our enjoyment during this time.

    There will be Random Giveaways all throughout the Event from Thursday evening through Monday evening. Be sure to be present in Discord at least 1 night of the event for your chance to win some games!     Happy new year, Adventurers! 2019 was a great year for Ring of Elysium, and we would like to thank you for joining us on this incredible journey. As always, we’ve been continuously collecting feedback from the community and listening to your thoughts on a daily basis. In today’s Developer Insights post, we want to start the year off right by addressing the hottest topic in our communities- maps.

    Yes, there is a new map coming to ROE, and you can expect more than one in the future. The development of the upcoming map started a while ago, we didn’t want to reveal it too early since building a new map from scratch is a big commitment and an immense amount of development effort; we are not going to make another Mt. Dione or Europa Island with a different look, but rather we want to create a map that addresses the issues of previous maps. We know waiting sucks, and we greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and goodwill.

    Before we talk about the new map, let’s rewind a bit and breakdown some of the characteristics of Europa Island:

    • Pacing:

      • When we first designed Europa Island, we wanted to give players the ability to move around a vast, open landscape to provide a truly immersive experience. We wanted you to feel like you’re playing in an open-world game with a variety of different things to do. This ended up making Europa Island a massive map. As we continued to add more POIs to the map, the playable area became even bigger, which is a lot of space for 60 players to play with, creating quite a bit of downtime between safe zones and in early-game. Since we do not have the convergence effect of the dropship spawn-mechanism, players are more likely to be scattered across the various POIs on the map (except the hot-droppers) with our spawn system.
    • Traversing:

      • Our intention was to provide players with tons of freedom and possibilities with how they traverse around the map- spots to glide from, open areas to bike across, endless angles to grapple, and water areas to explore. This helped to make each game’s experience completely unique. Players might find themselves trying out all the slopes for BMX stunts in the first game, and then driving a speedboat through the tumbling sea under extreme weather in the next one. Speaking of the sea, we later introduced underwater combat with the DPV, expanding our tactical options and adding another way to traverse the waters. However, even though the traversing experience around waters feels special in ROE, it can sometimes be a struggle and slow down the pacing of the game.
    • Line of Sight:

      • We envisioned Europa Island to be realistic and immersive. We put much effort into detailing a vegetation filled, lush environment which established the identity of our island. This caused the line of sight to be obstructed at times, leading to less mid to long range encounters which was a lot more common on Mt. Dione. As you can see from the statistics below, the chance of bullets hitting a target over 100 meters is lower on Europa Island compared to Mt. Dione.
    • Art Style:

      • Artistic direction is absolutely crucial when it comes to defining the identity and flavor of the map. Europa’s original concept was this beautiful, verdant island that is lively yet dangerous with the erupting volcano. So we decided to go with a more bright and saturated color palette, which works well conveying that concept.
    With the new map on the horizon, we want to take this opportunity to make some fundamental adjustments, bringing a refreshing experience while keeping the core that makes the game unique and fun:

    • Open LOS

      • Gunplay will continue to be a major focus. We want to incentivize players to initiate engagements in all kinds of distances and situations instead of hindering their options with obstructions. This means that the new map will feature a much more open line of sight, with fewer influencing factors like vegetation.
    • A Faster Pace

      • There’s a mixture of downtime and lack of encounters on Europa mainly due to its large size, water coverage, off-road terrains, and lush vegetation. This time, we want to make things faster and more action-packed on top of feeling engaging and rewarding. In order to achieve that, we will take all four issues above into consideration when we design the most appropriate theme and location for the new map.
    • New Art Style

      • We’re shifting the art style of the new map to a more serious and realistic approach. As you may have already seen, the latest POI introduced to Europa this season, the Campbell Shooting Range, has a very different look and feel. We were thrilled to see the feedback on this new approach has been extremely positive in the community. Let’s just say that Campbell is just a tease of what’s to come.
    • Other Thoughts

      • Other than the points above, we have also been reviewing various other aspects of the design. For instance, we realized that Europa was slow-paced partially due to the nature of our safe zone system. While this “shaped safe zone” has been a staple to the game, it is not as progressive and does not provide a constant pressure that forces players to converge effectively.
    Moving Forward

    With the new map coming up, let’s talk about where Europa Island and Mt. Dione fit in. These two maps have captured our audience in different ways, and we want to figure out the best system to incorporate them into the game. There is no perfect solution here, but we want to be upfront and transparent with you, and we are constantly trying to figure out what works best:

    Since ROE is a Battle Royale, each game round eats up a lot of players. It’s incredibly difficult for us(or any other BR out there) to support a healthy matchmaking experience by making all maps playable via selection. We also feel that random map matchmaking is not a good strategy because players may leave the game until they matchmake into the map they like, leaving the lobbies half empty. And a daily/hourly map rotation will only divide the community in a really negative way. So as of now, we think adding Europa Island into the current LTM rotation and opening up the available hours would be the best approach. However, as previously stated, we will continue to monitor all feedback from our communities, and we want to hear what you have to say about this topic to help us make a clear, concise decision.
    One More Thing...

    As mentioned above, there will be more than one new map coming to the game in the future, so while it’s still early, get your creative juices flowing and let us know your best map concepts, it might actually become the 4th map of Ring of Elysium!
    Final Thoughts

    We are incredibly excited about the direction we’re headed and hope you all are as well! We also can’t wait to to reveal more details about this new map in the very near future with you.     • Added a guaranteed boat spawn point at Drilling Platform and Tidal Power Station
    • Changed the time to automatically switch to the next spectating target to 2 seconds after the previous spectating target was eliminated to improve the spectating experience

    • Fixed an issue where Elena’s hair became pink for a split second after using the Stealth Cloak
    • Fixed an issue where repairing vehicles could reset the cooldown of Invisibility and Radar Battlecar devices

    Season 7 Character Reveal- Malus:

    Malus is one of the best detective in the bureau. But when his partner Edward investigated Echelon, he suddenly vanished. Malus believes that Echelon is behind everything, and came to Europa Island. A new round of showdown is about to unfold.



  12. Infinity Ward plans to expand the player count playlist options in Gunfight in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at some point.

    Infinity Ward developer Joe Cecot tweeted out that they are actively working on bringing 3v3 and 1v1 support to Gunfight in the game.

    The ability to have 1v1 and 3v3 matches for Gunfight exists in private matches, but is not available in the Public Playlist for Gunfight. That is restricted to just 2v2 option.

    There is no ETA for when to expect this playlist changes to Modern Warfare – perhaps coming with Season 1 of the game or maybe at a later date.

  14. Infinity Ward has released a new in-game game settings update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on November 25.

    The new in-game update brings the ability to have parties in Gun Game mode and added Free for All into the Quick Play filter.

    Here’s the full Playlist Update Patch Notes:


    • Allowing up to 4-player parties in Gun Game
    • Moving FFA to the Filter menu
    • Fixing join in progress for FFA to prevent finding late-progress matches
    • Turning off spawn cameras for Headquarters and Hardpoint


    • Removed infils for both teams when loading into Piccadilly, Search and Destroy
    • Fix for a bug where the thermal optic on the PP19 Bizon would appear white while ADS
    • Fix for the E.O.D. perk not allowing players to hack claymores in FFA
    • Fix for various boosting and out of bounds exploits
    • Fix for laser sights becoming misaligned on the P90 and MP5
    • Special Operations: Minor adjustment to difficulty

  15. SuperData Research analytical firm has released the latest data for the worldwide video games industry for October 2019.

    The firm has provided two data points for Call of Duty, one for Modern Warfare and one for Call of Duty: Mobile.

    The data shows that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sold an estimated 4.75 million digital units on PS4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide in October. Modern Warfare is the best selling digital game of 2019. This is actually down 11% from Black Ops 4’s launch in October 2018, but that is due to the fact that Black Ops 4 launched two weeks early in October last year compared to Modern Warfare.

    In addition, the data suggests that majority of users opted for the standard edition instead of higher editions because of the lack of a Season Pass bundle. The company has removed Season Passes for this year’s game, making post launch maps and more free for the community.

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has best selling digital launch of 2019. Modern Warfare sold an estimated 4.75 million digital units across console and PC in October, down 11% from Black Ops 4 last year, although there were fewer days this year due to a later launch in the month. The average selling price of digital units also declined from last year due to the lack of a season pass bundle. 

    The data also reported on Call of Duty: Mobile, stating that there is an estimated 116 million active users on the game through the month of October. The game also generated an estimated $57 million in revenue in its first month.

    Call of Duty Mobile catapults into the top rankings. We estimate COD Mobile generated $57 million in total revenue in October with 116 million monthly active users, placing it as the 12th top grossing mobile game worldwide this month. iOS made up 82% of total spend.

  16. UPDATE – Nov 22: Data miners have also founded a first image of what appears to be a map called “Cargo” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The map might be a remake of some sorts of the original Modern Warfare’s Wet Work map, but that’s not confirmed. The files in game only refer to it as “Cargo.”


    Data miners have found new references to additional maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    The latest update, v1.09, has added in a partial loading screen of ‘Crash.’

    It still looks to be work in progress as some assets are missing, but it appears to be worked on recently meaning it’s coming to Modern Warfare at some point.

    Crash was first introduced to Call of Duty back in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and was then brought back to Modern Warfare 2. Now it appears it will be returning in 2019’s Modern Warfare.

    Back in October, data miners found over 38 unreleased maps for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, including many remakes from the Modern Warfare series. Only two maps from that list has released so far – Shoot House and Farms Ground War map.

    There is no release date for this map available yet, so stay tuned.



  17. With the latest update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare now live on all platforms, data miners have started to dig through the update files for any new things that have been added since the last update.

    User on Reddit has found that the studio has added in the animated logo for the Season 1 Battle Pass for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.


    The Battle Pass for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to begin sometime in December per Activision executives.

    The Battle Pass is Infinity Ward’s replacement for not having supply drops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The leaked Reddit post states that the tier stream will have 100 tiers and that the premium Battle Pass will be purchased with Call of Duty Points.

    There will be both a free and premium Battle Pass system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The items unlocked through the content is cosmetic content only, per Activision. All gameplay affecting items are earned through gameplay.

    There is no set start date for the Battle Pass yet, so stay tuned.

  18. Infinity Ward has released the latest patch update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare overnight on November 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

    This new patch update is version 1.09 and is 12.9GB update size on PS4, 15GB on Xbox One, and 20GB on PC.

    This new update brings changes to Special Operators, changes the kill feed to be less cluttered, fixes for SnD mount glitches, thermal scope updates, additional bug fixes across the game, and more.

    Update – Nov. 22 at 10:52AM ET: Infinity Ward uploaded the patch notes for today’s update to Battle.net as well, but appears to have accidentally left an internal note that was not meant to be shown publicly under the changes to footstep audio.

    The internal note states “This is a hot topic in the community, and this is not the change that they were hoping to see. Our core players want to see footstep volume dramatically reduced.

    • Players can visit the "Store - Weapon Skin" interface in the game lobby, select and open the Sapphire Edge Supply Box to obtain one random weapon skin in the supply box’s prize pool

  21. Infinity Ward has revealed some CDL related updates for Modern Warfare coming, alongside changes that’ll be global for all players.

    The next update will fix the mounting glitch issue in SND, and it will also allow thermal to see through smoke.

    Thermal seeing through smoke has been a topic for Esports since the game launched. Infinity Ward said that they wanted to be realistic with this overall game, and thus, thermal could not see through smoke. It seems that has changed now.

    In addition, the SND mounting glitch has caused a lot of frustration for users as the game has become harder to play and navigate in that mode.

    This update is also set to bring kill feed updates, challenge fixes, and more.

  22. UPDATED 11/19: New Modern Warfare patch update is still expected to come later this week. A hot fix was released on November 19 with critical emergency updates for the game.

    The latest patch update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming this week, per tweets from several Infinity Ward developers.

    Infinity Ward’s MP Designer and Senior CM both tweeted that a new update is coming this week and is currently in testing for release.

    In regards to what’s included in this update, patch updates for it are not yet available, but the studio has been hinting at some of what’s in the works at the studio.

    • Kill feed changes that will remove some of the notifications like “…avenged you” to allow for collats and other kill chains to show up clean in the feed
    • Many bug fixes and updates to challenges and officer rank progression challenges – there’s a lot of challenges that are not tracking properly still. This upcoming update is expected to resolve many of these. (Update 11/19: this was addressed in a hot fix update on November 19).
    • Potential updates to the tanks in Ground War. Infinity Ward dev confirmed that they’re working on nerfing them, but it was not mentioned as to when to expect it.
    • Other Weapon tuning updates – possible more changes to the 725, amongst other updates. (Update 11/19: this was updated in a hot fix update on November 19).
