  1. Force Push-to-Talk rant.

Some of us aren't dumb with our microphones. Such as correctly set up VAD doesn't pick up any background noise at all unless I'm talking. Which you'd hear anyway while my push to talk button was pressed. And second, there is a built in mute button attached to the side of the headset. Which I use ALL THE TIME. Having another button to keep track of is simply annoying and not helpful. IMHO Push to Talk is the fallback for people who don't want to or for some reasons cannot get VAD set up correctly. But there is a sweet spot. For everyone. Where background noise doesn't activate the microphone and only your voice does.

TL;DR Forcing everyone to push to talk isn't the most elegant solution. For people able to control their own microphones sufficiently it's not needed.

P.S. And because criticism without a solution is wasted effort here's a solution. Currently it's set up on the channel permissions for Force Push to Talk, the permission is activated on the channel itself so only people with the Ignore Force Push to Talk permission are immune to it. This is a MOST inelegant solution, simply you could attach the Force Push to Talk to the channel GROUP permission such as say Guest or a custom made channel group and then make that the DEFAULT channel group assigned instead of Guest. Then if someone comes along who doesn't need Force Push to Talk activated on them, You could quite simply have another channel group you could move them into. And thus this works on a channel by channel basis. You could still keep Alpha Squad and Bravo Squad moderated. But not the other channels where it's MUCH less necessary.

P.S.S This solution is definitely more elegant than the one currently implemented as it even gives High Command more control over individual channels. <3

  4. In case you missed it

Let's get down to the nitty gritty of things shall we?
I am sure that you have been scouring the internet for details about Battlefield 1, details that are much harder to gather and grasp as they are scattered all over the place.

Below you can find out such things like expected weaponry within the game, server information and more.
This will be updated over time, so keep those eyes peeled!
    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ___

    • The Battlefield 1 Servers will support High Tick Rate upon launch.
    • Tank Takedowns (The act of jumping ontop of a tank and throwing a grenade inside) will not be present in BF1 Multiplayer.
    • There will be no visual recoil effect as seen in previous Battlefield titles. The recoil shown when firing weaponry in Battlefield 1 is the true recoil of that weapon.
    • Attack planes have anti-infantry level bombs.
    • Bomber planes will also have anti-infantry bombs but also much larger payload bombs too.
    • Some Closed-Alpha gameplay you may be seeing has an incorrect FOV, making things look stretched. This isn't final.
    • Weather affects Sniper Scope Glint, this means that it shall glint during sun periods of weather but not in the likes of rain or fog - Take advantage of the field.
    • 3D Spotting is still within the game.
    • No All-Kit weapons in Battlefield 1, Medics will not be gaining access to bolt actions.
    • Assault will receive SMG's and Shotguns, Medics gain semi automatic rifles, Support will get LMGs, Scouts will get Bolt Action rifles.
    • Everyone gets Parachutes
    • Counter knifing has been removed with Battlefield 1, the first player to activate the melee kill will be the individual getting that kill.
    • Bayonet charging at each other, whoever did it first gets the kill.
    • The Behemoth (Zeppelin to some of you) is a six player seated vehicle that will come in once the losing side reaches a point of desperation, it can have the ability of turning around a losing match. While there is no function to control altitude, you can pilot the Behemoth and control the direction it ends up going in.
    • Destroying the gondolas below a Behemoth will destroy the platform, thus remove that player seat from the Behemoth, you can also kill players standing inside those platforms.

    The Maps of Battlefield 1

A destructive clash in a majestic city. Fight on the streets and squares in French city of Amiens during the German spring offensive. A struggle in crumbling alleys, a courthouse, around bridges and railways where the British and the Germans desperately seek to control the depths of the city.

Along the Adriatic coast a fierce struggle for land and life is taking place. A rugged but fortified shore becomes the battlefield for an empire under siege. What was once a beautiful Mediterranean village by the coast is now transformed by mechanized war, where waves and dreadnought battleships pound the remains of Italy’s Great War.

A massive attack on the scarred battlefields of northern France. As part of the Kaiser's battle, the German army throws everything they have to try to break through the British lines. Prepare for truly cataclysmic assaults as you push through the trenches of the St. Quentin Scar. Be the first soldier to break through the fortified lines and assault the pristine village of Travecy, untouched by the war… until now.

Take part in one of the final battles among the peaks of kings in the Venetian Alps. High up above the clouds a desperate fight for control of mountain forts are challenging even the toughest soldiers. Utilize the massive fort cannons to stop the advancing enemies as they scale the mountainside. Up here, in this furious struggle, the Austro Hungarian Empire holds the upper hand, but the Italian Army won't stop until they've taken back what's theirs.
